Late article that I thought was very beneficial.

The article talks about how 2009 Canadian opportunities are possibly at stake.

Although the public concerns about the current economic slowdown, Canadians have an opportunity to build our future prosperity by ensuring we keep a balanced perspective on short-term and long-term challenges. Within the Report on Canada, Opportunity in the turmoil, the Institute for Competitiveness & Prosperity and the Martin Prosperity Institute call on individuals, business leaders, and governments to look for hope and optimism in the stormy times of the current economic downturn.

This article by the Rotman School of Business is very beneficial because it gives the economy some positive outlooks on what to do next and for the future. Investments, motivations, taxes, and structures are basic reccomendations talked about by the report.

Rim the big talk:

Rim is a key company when taking a look at the Waterloo Region, and is said to be the key innovator company for the region. This particular article talk about how Research In Motion Ltd. shares and ran from resource stocks due to falling commodity prices. The BlackBerry maker jumped almost 20 per cent Friday after it beat first-quarter expectations by reporting a year-over-year increase in profit of 26 per cent. The company also upped its outlook for 2010.

This article was very interesting because I would like to work for RIM in the future, and it played a key role in my ICT research for the Waterloo Region.

WATERLOO, Ont. (Monday, March 19, 2007) — In less than a year, the Accelerator Centre at the Waterloo Research and Technology Park has laid the groundwork for some of Canada’s high-tech stars of the future.

To mark its achievements in nurturing the early growth of high-technology firms, the AC will hold a celebration event this Thursday at its building on the University of Waterloo’s north campus.

“It’s been a very successful time since our launch last May. We’re at 98-per-cent capacity and we have plans to expand,” says Gerry Sullivan, AC’s chief executive officer. “We provide start-up companies with access to industry experts who can help direct budding entrepreneurs through the process for launching a technology enterprise.”
